3D Modeling & Digital Visualization
Create and present three-dimensional assets: modelling and topology, materials and textures, lighting and rendering, composition, simple animation and export.
- Planned 30 days
- About 2 h per day
- 7 planned modules
This course is in development and not yet available for purchase. The planned curriculum below is a draft and may change before launch.
Overview
A full program in 3D modelling with free, open-source software. You learn 3D fundamentals, meshes and transforms, modelling techniques and good topology, physically based materials, UV unwrapping and textures, lighting and rendering, scene composition, keyframe animation and turntables, asset optimisation, and exporting and presenting your work. The focus is 3D assets and visualisation rather than graphic design or video editing. The capstone is a complete 3D asset with materials, lighting and a final rendered presentation.
What you will be able to do
- Navigate 3D software and work with meshes and transforms
- Model assets with clean topology
- Create materials and unwrap UVs for textures
- Light and render scenes
- Compose scenes and animate simple turntables
- Optimise, export and present 3D assets
Before you start
- Basic computer skills
- A computer that can run free 3D software
Planned curriculum
A draft outline of the modules being written. Lessons are not available yet, and the outline may change after expert review.
Availability
