Cloud Computing
Understand cloud concepts, infrastructure, security, reliability and cost — and design a small cloud architecture with clear budget limits.
- Planned 30 days
- About 2 h per day
- 6 planned modules
This course is in development and not yet available for purchase. The planned curriculum below is a draft and may change before launch.
Overview
A vendor-aware but concept-first program. You learn service and deployment models, compute, storage and networking, regions and availability zones, virtual machines and containers, identity and access management, managed databases, serverless, architecture, reliability, observability, backup and disaster recovery, security controls, cost estimation, infrastructure-as-code basics, deployment planning and vendor comparison. The capstone is a designed (and optionally deployed) small architecture with documented cost limits and least-privilege access.
What you will be able to do
- Explain cloud service and deployment models
- Choose compute, storage, networking and database services for a workload
- Apply IAM least privilege and core security controls
- Design for reliability, observability and recovery
- Estimate and control cloud costs
- Document a cloud architecture and deployment plan
Before you start
- Basic computer networking terms
- Comfort with the command line is helpful
Planned curriculum
A draft outline of the modules being written. Lessons are not available yet, and the outline may change after expert review.
