Overview
A short, practical course of about three weeks at an hour a day. You learn why small businesses keep records, how to separate business and personal money, how to record and categorise income and expenses, the basic idea of cash and accrual accounting, how to keep receipts and issue invoices, how to reconcile records with a bank statement, how to produce a simple profit-and-loss and cash-flow summary, and when to ask an accountant. The course is educational: it is not tax, legal or accounting advice, and rules differ by country. The project is one month of books for a sample business.
